Art Component
Students will be given a project in which they will be expected to create an artistic representation of how cultures can come together peacefully. Students will have a choice to use music, photography, poetry, etc. Students will also be split into groups so that one group looks at the school demographics, one of the city, one state, one country and one world. Each group will be expected to use the same proportions that are represented demographically in areas of their art.
Before the students begin on their own work, they will be offered examples of different pieces that bring together many cultural groups as a jumping-off point. By looking at art, students will be able to see the huge amount of diversity in the world and also how these diverse groups can converge to create beautiful things.
